Water sports & Skiing
Skiing, sailing, running, paddle surfing, walking and even diving, a stone’s throw from the Olympic Capital – all sports come together here. Thanks to the presence of the IOC, the Olympic Museum and around 50 sporting federations or associations, Lausanne and its region benefit from Olympic Capital status. Sports enthusiasts young and old will love them.
In summer, water sports are most popular thanks to the proximity of Lake Léman, where it is possible to sail, swim or even dive. You can also do paddle surfing, wakeboarding or rowing, or go on pedalos or jet skis. With the mountains and breathtaking surrounding landscape, hang-gliding is also a very popular activity. In winter, from Paudex, it is easy to get to the Vaud and Valais ski runs for the day.
Running & Hiking
Many races are organised in the region: the Patrouille des Glaciers, the Lausanne marathon, Sierre-Zinal, Lausanne 20k, Colour Run and the Tour du Pays de Vaud, to mention just a few. And since 1977, the Athletissima meeting has brought together the best athletes in the world at the Pontaise Stadium in Lausanne. Walking is also possible for every level all year round.
